Italian Kitchen in East End is GREAT!

Italian Kitchen finally opened! Next door to the Dunkin Donuts shop in east end (across from Morritts). A great Italian Bistro-type restaurant. With brick-oven pizzas, homemade pastas, entrees, etc...The Italian Kitchen is doing a great job in filling the void between Quesadillas/Burgers at Mimi's and the "Caribbean Mix" at the Lighthouse restaurant. Take out food is also allowed, but you may want to stay in and enjoy the atmosphere. 949-8210 is the number for reservations. Owned and managed by locals! Please give them feedback during your visit! Highly recommended.

Cayman Explorer - "Turtally Cool"

This summer a new sting ray sandbar excursion tour opened with the arrival of the "Cayman Explorer" run by marinelandtours out of the Barcadere Marina behind the airport. It is a really neat alternative to the Red Sail catamaran; with on-board bar, restrooms, rain protection AND it can be privately chartered for sunset cruises, dinners, snorkel trips, etc. (345)-945-8687 for information and booking.

A really unique feature of the Cayman Explorer is the hydraulic swim platform that lowers down into the water for those who are not as capable on a ladder or stairs into the water. At night they also can do an underwater light show to attract marine life to the boat. Observation deck on top for the kids who want a better view. Anyway-- just a neat alternative to enjoy stingray city or charter for a private event.

4BR Great Escape is back better than ever!

After changing hands and a healthy renovation; 3-4BR Great Escape in Cayman Kai is back on the rental market. The new owners (Steve & Sue) used to own at Coralstone Club and are familiar with higher end villa rentals. They have replaced the furniture, mattresses, kitchen appliances and created a huge new luxurious master bath. The house enjoys a very private lot only 200 yds from the Rum Point Club and one of the largest pools in Cayman Kai. The new owners have also ordered a pool heater to offer guests at their option as well in winter. Boasting a big screened porch with ping-pong table for kids and the wicker furniture for cocktail hour; Great Escape aims to please. A dining gazebo on the beach and a private dock also permit boat rental or a charter-boat captain pick up behind the house. Lastly-- there is an easement directly across the street to the perfect barefoot beach of Cayman Kai- Great Escape offers the best of both worlds; privacy with a huge pool and easy access to a perfect beach.

The new owners also have lowered the rates a smidge to encourage bookings! $4,950/wk summer and $6,750/wk winter.

7 Mile Beach 4BR Rental Announced!

4BR Serenity Now (on Boggy Sand Road next door to Villa Positano) just listed with Grand Cayman Villas exclusively for their rentals. This home is being renovated by the owners currently and I will photograph it mid-September for basic web photos. New paint, furniture, drapes, mattresses, landscaping and new granite counters will give the house a big boost.

Oceanfront King and Queen bedrooms, bunkroom with twin over twin, a bunkroom with twin over full and full trundle under, and then a futon in the den for overflow children. The house can sleep 10-11 people (8 adults maximum). Only 2.5 bathrooms, but otherwise this home offers a small pool, cabana for shade & elevated views of 7 Mile Beach and (unlike Positano next door) when the occassional storm washes away the sand up to the retaining wall below-- guests at 4BR Serenity Now still have easy access to the soft sand beach just north shown in the photo above. A quiet cul-de-sac for privacy and not too far north of Cemetery Reef for snorkeling! You can walk to the grocery as well as some eating spots--and the bus line is right around the corner to town.

Reviews, Reviews, Reviews!

When searching for the "right" villa or condo for your vacation who can you trust for advice? Maybe you've never been to the island, maybe you just may not have been to the area where the property is located...so actual "Guest Reviews" can be very helpful.

In August 2011; we began linking the VRBO guest review pages for our 30+ "managed" properties; as well as for the 7 Mile Beach condos we book for. We just started this process; so it may take a while to build out; but we think this will be very helpful and easy to navigate between prospective properties--rather than asking an owner for prior guest emails and phone numbers. Trip Advisor is very awkward to use for this process and the quality of the posts sometimes are suspect.

We hope you find it helpful!
