We've Been Busy!

Our last post was back in February--and a lot has changed since then!

We got our new site, GrandCaymanVillas.Net, up and running a few months ago. It's been an exciting switch for us and our customers--online booking has opened a whole new world of convenience!

Our interactive Island map has been another fun addition. With the click of a mouse, you can find villas, restaurants, and attractions laid over a satellite view of Grand Cayman. This means that, whether you like to be near the thriving night life of 7 Mile Beach, or prefer the quiet relaxation of a villa farther from the action, you'll be able to find exactly what you need.

Our new website is a sleek, simple way to book Grand Cayman Villas online, with real time booking. Caribbean vacations are a great way to "get away from it all," and we're striving to make those trips as hassle-free as possible.

We're very excited for the new website--and to announce that we've been acquiring new properties for our management family!

Just a sampling of photos from our new additions:

We're increasing our offerings all the time. Soon, we hope to expand the number of Cayman Kai & 7 Mile Beach Condos we can offer--all available for online booking!

Check back in with us for Grand Cayman news updates, new properties, and occasional specials!

New Website For Us!!

In March we will be launching a completely new website with much better functionality: real-time calendar search functions, limited on-line booking availability, interactive Google maps and an owner log-in portal for owners to check their financials, block dates and pull up statements.

In addition to those items, we also will be offering ONLINE Booking for 7MB condos: Meridian, Coralstone Club, Beachcomber, Renaissance, Avalon, Plantana, Silver Sands, Casa Caribe, Islands Club, Villas of the Galleon, White Sands, Discovery Point, Christopher Columbus and Aqua Bay. In the past we have focused only on the higher end condos; but automated booking allows us to accept the bookings for the next lower level without too much effort.

The new website's Google calendar will have icons locating each villa and condo, groceries, watersports, giftshops, hospital, clinic, bars, fast food, etc. It will assist those searching for a villa to also know there are many things to do on the northside & east end of the island and plenty of places to eat, drink, swim, snorkel and dive. I hope to find an icon for fresh fish at Old Man Bay pier too!

Kurt's Corner- new restaurant in Old Man Bay

Kurt's Corner - New local restaurant in Old Man Bay (Northside). Great news for those who are staying in Old Man Bay or Northside (or just driving by!). Named for The honorable Kurt Tibbetts (former head of government on Grand Cayman), Kurt's Corner is a great spot for a lunch or casual dinner. The dining area is a large roofed deck with canvas walls in case it rains. Very inviting and tidy, not just a jerk chicken stand or roadside eatery. Casual enough, but dinner by candlelight is nice.

Much lower priced than large restaurants and with a local touch by Miss Blossom (former head cook at Over The Edge restaurant down the road). I had dinner there tonight and the food was great. Fresh wahoo escovitch with some scotch bonnet sauce (my request) to heat it up. She serves great lemonade, but if you want a beer...the "barn" bar is right next door...and they have a package store attached called "Waterboyz". Very easy to find; right at the top of Frank Sound Road as you enter Old Man Bay. Call for take-out as well. 345-947-8899. Walking distance from "On The Bay" condos, Cayman Sands & Sand Castle villas.

Villa Caymanas - New Home for Rental

4BR/5BA Villa Caymanas in Old Man Bay new listing-- Friends of mine recently sold their lovely home and the new owner will be sharing it with guests...Villa Caymanas is a modern decor, oceanfront 4BR luxury home with a zen garden, nicely sized lap pool and many modern amenities. The unique architecture offers not only a full-width balcony with umbrellas and dining tables on the second floor; but also a covered veranda down below where guests can dine or watch the sun go down. The antique (heavy!) Chinese doors out front are just for access to the ground floor conversation area, 2 guest suites as well as gym...the main living area is actually on the second floor--with floor-to-ceiling windows and doors. The dive site "Babylon" is straight out from shore and the snorkeling is superb behind the house. Stone steps lead to the pebbly beach (the best snorkeling beaches have the most corals and very little sand). Kayak included as well as bikes; easy off-http://grandcaymanvillas.blogspot.com/ street parking and heavy landscaping with date palms lining the street. A real pleasant hideaway on Grand Cayman. Only 5 minutes from the grocery store, Jacques Scott Wine/Liquor store and the new Italian Kitchen restaurant.

Italian Kitchen in East End is GREAT!

Italian Kitchen finally opened! Next door to the Dunkin Donuts shop in east end (across from Morritts). A great Italian Bistro-type restaurant. With brick-oven pizzas, homemade pastas, entrees, etc...The Italian Kitchen is doing a great job in filling the void between Quesadillas/Burgers at Mimi's and the "Caribbean Mix" at the Lighthouse restaurant. Take out food is also allowed, but you may want to stay in and enjoy the atmosphere. 949-8210 is the number for reservations. Owned and managed by locals! Please give them feedback during your visit! Highly recommended.

Cayman Explorer - "Turtally Cool"

This summer a new sting ray sandbar excursion tour opened with the arrival of the "Cayman Explorer" run by marinelandtours out of the Barcadere Marina behind the airport. It is a really neat alternative to the Red Sail catamaran; with on-board bar, restrooms, rain protection AND it can be privately chartered for sunset cruises, dinners, snorkel trips, etc. (345)-945-8687 for information and booking.

A really unique feature of the Cayman Explorer is the hydraulic swim platform that lowers down into the water for those who are not as capable on a ladder or stairs into the water. At night they also can do an underwater light show to attract marine life to the boat. Observation deck on top for the kids who want a better view. Anyway-- just a neat alternative to enjoy stingray city or charter for a private event.

4BR Great Escape is back better than ever!

After changing hands and a healthy renovation; 3-4BR Great Escape in Cayman Kai is back on the rental market. The new owners (Steve & Sue) used to own at Coralstone Club and are familiar with higher end villa rentals. They have replaced the furniture, mattresses, kitchen appliances and created a huge new luxurious master bath. The house enjoys a very private lot only 200 yds from the Rum Point Club and one of the largest pools in Cayman Kai. The new owners have also ordered a pool heater to offer guests at their option as well in winter. Boasting a big screened porch with ping-pong table for kids and the wicker furniture for cocktail hour; Great Escape aims to please. A dining gazebo on the beach and a private dock also permit boat rental or a charter-boat captain pick up behind the house. Lastly-- there is an easement directly across the street to the perfect barefoot beach of Cayman Kai- Great Escape offers the best of both worlds; privacy with a huge pool and easy access to a perfect beach.

The new owners also have lowered the rates a smidge to encourage bookings! $4,950/wk summer and $6,750/wk winter.
